My Jaguar

Actual XK-120 Jaguar.

So named because it was the first automobile designed to come off the production line capable of reaching 120 mph.

The reason my wife first dated me!

Invited by friends who are members of a modeler’s club  to attend a big annual event.

Learning the event was primarily for model car enthusiasts, I felt I needed to create something unique for their big show.

As with my ships, I opted to create something totally from scratch.

My favorite of the many I’ve owned over the years was my first….
The 1951 XK-120 Jaguar.

Underneath, exhaust system.

This little model of my Jag was completely carved from a solid block of wood.

All the chrome parts have been painted with a very expensive liquid chrome.

My special personalized license plate.

Ready for spoked wheels.

Confession….I did NOT create the spoked wheels pictured below.

My attempt to do so was a miserable failure!

So, I purchased a model car with these wheels.

Under the hood, showing the overhead cam engine with duel
SU carbs.

The engine developed 160 HP.

The most powerful production car of it’s time.

Creating the engine.

SU carbs.

Creating the interior dashboard, steering wheel, bucket seats, etc.

Installed bucket seats.

Creating bucket seats and floorboard and firewall module.

Hollowed out the body back to the driver compartment.

Hood removed.

Ready for second coat of paint.

Rough beginning.

This does not resemble an XK-120 Jaguar.

So I will simply remove everything that doesn’t look like a Jaguar.
